STEP 1: read about the power pylons
Click on the image below to read this Good Magazine article called "Power Pylons That Look Like Mythical Giants Turn Ordinary Infrastructure Into Massive Works of Art."
STEP 2: re-design
For Step 2, you may want to recruit some peers, friends, or family members. You may feel a bit of pressure to be creative, and I don't want to put too much pressure on you in that way (unless you're up for it, of course). Here's a tip: find someone in grade school! They've always got the best, craziest, strangest, most exciting ideas. And so do we, when we allow ourselves, to. But now, on to the specifics:
- While the article above is in response to power pylons, I'd like you to think of an "unsightly" fixture of your own. It doesn't have to be an industrial feature of the landscape you live in; perhaps there's a certain building, street, park, classroom, whatever! that comes to mind. The only requirement is that it must be "unsightly," in your opinion.
- Once you have an idea in mind, you need to re-design this fixture. In your imagination, of course :) I am not promoting vandalism! Although, I suppose I do support home renovations if that's applicable to you. This is the part of your blog where I recommend you make it a family/friend activity. All are welcome to brainstorm as long as you are the writer of the ideas, in the end. And, as long as you give a bit of credit in writing.
STEP 3: write
I'm looking for a narrative this week (think of it as storytelling). First, tell me about the fixture that you deem "unsightly," and explain what makes it unsightly to you. Be descriptive; be convincing! Then, explain the process you went through in re-designing it. Who was involved? What were the challenges? What ideas were on the table? How did all of this make you feel? Great stories make you feel like you were right there.
And finally... (This next part would be a GREAT second paragraph).
In the end, how did you decide to re-design the fixture? Describe your imaginary re-design in vivid detail, and then explain and defend how this re-design would be an improvement of the fixture.

STEP 4: revise & Edit
Please revise and edit your writing carefully. Refer back to the comments you previous assignments to ensure that your writing is improving each week. At this point, you should have a mental list, if not a written one, documenting things you do well and things you need to be working on. Focus on improvement and putting forth your best effort.
STEP 5: publish & submit
Be sure to click on "update" when you've finished your blog. As well, click "publish" to ensure that the most current version of your website is live and accessible. When all of this is complete, you can submit your assignment through Canvas. You'll need to copy and paste your site URL into the submission space. Follow the link below...
