STEP 1: if this adorable dog can take public transportation, so can you
Read about the bus-riding dog (can you believe it?!?) by clicking on the image below :)
STEP 2: ride a city bus
And yes, you read that title right for Step 2. This week, or next week (you decide), you need to ride a city bus; if that dog can do it, so can you :) I don't care which one you ride, but there's a bus system in Longview, and it happens to make a campus stop; it's also free for you to ride as a student. If you click on the image below, it will take you to their website for more information. Part of the assignment is figuring out how to ride the bus (if you've never done it before); I'm not going to help because figuring it out is part of the experience. You are encouraged, however, to work together... maybe even ride together.
STEP 3: think, write, reflect
If you'd like to write about your experience figuring all of this out, fine, but keep it brief! Save your "breath" for what I am about to explain...
I'm looking for a narrative this week (think of it as storytelling). I want you to describe your experience on the bus. You have 300 words to spend for this blog, minimum (break into paragraphs when you feel it makes sense: I expect you to do this in order to keep things organized and to engage your reader). I want to know how riding the bus made you feel, what you noticed about the town you were traveling through / the neighborhoods and streets you traveled through. I want to know what you think about the city bus, and also the city. I want you to be creative and reflective, and I want you to feel free to respond in whatever way you choose, focusing on critical thought and meaningful reflection.
If it flows naturally out of what you've already written, I'd like to see your blog end with answers to these questions in regards to the city your traveled through and what you were able to gather/sense from your time spent on the bus:

- What IS happening in this city? The good, the bad, and the ugly?
- What COULD this city be like? Feel free to dream a bit. These answers should be fun/ outside of the box!
- What SHOULD this city be like? What issues must be addressed? What seems off?
STEP 4: revise & Edit
Please revise and edit your writing carefully. Refer back to the comments you previous assignments to ensure that your writing is improving each week. At this point, you should have a mental list, if not a written one, documenting things you do well and things you need to be working on. Focus on improvement and putting forth your best effort.
STEP 5: PUBLISH & SUBMIT
Be sure to click on "update" when you've finished your blog. As well, click "publish" to ensure that the most current version of your website is live and accessible. When all of this is complete, you can submit your assignment through Canvas. You'll need to copy and paste your site URL into the submission space. Follow the link below...
